DON STEINER • PHOTOGRAPHER
EXPLORATION & DISCOVERY
My art is based on photo manipulation where ordinary photos are
transformed into something alluring, unanticipated and artistic.
My photographs result from a lifelong process of exploration and
discovery and are inspired by the natural environment.
I attempt to soften the line between photography and painting
by employing photographic filters; altering color, pattern, texture
and visual rhythms of ordinary reality.
Don Steiner spent 40 years teaching elementary-school-aged
children in various locations, including Michigan, California,
Florida, Guatemala, and Turkey.
He has a Bachelors of Arts and Masters of Arts in Education, from
Michigan State University.
As a teacher, he fostered student creativity from potential to
performance through understanding the characteristics of
creativity, it was not just about elaborate products;
but also a wayof divergent thinking.
After retiring from his primary career he discovered an
enthusiasm and appreciation for photography and the application
of unconventional techniques to his photography.
He currently lives in Venice, Florida.
