"EVERY ARTIST HAS A PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY THAT GUIDES HER WORK"
I love art that stimulates thought,
conveys a message and opens up a conversation.
By titling each piece, I provide a starting point for that conversation.
I awaken before dawn each morning, my head swirling with possibilities. I watch the day emerge
as the sun rises over the pond outside my studio, then follow the muse. The work has changed over the years,
but the drive to create, interpret, and share has never failed me.
I frequently draw inspiration from the Modern Art Philosophy which emphasizes
simplicity, intensity, and direct expression. Revealed in my visual language,
I interpret thoughts, concepts, metaphors, reference musical and literary works. The work unfolds from an entirely intuitive place and continues as an evolution of thought and process.
My painting style can be described as gestural abstract expressionism which combines marks, energetic lines, and color. I am able to achieve multiple layers of rich texture and depth by working with a variety of artist’s
tools and mediums, that include porcelain clay paint, soft pastel, oil pastel,
graphite, charcoal, and acrylic paints and mediums.
In recent years my work is reflective of the collective consciousness, examining a world fractured and mended. When the mood is optimistic, the work takes on a lighthearted attitude.
Conversely, a darker quality is revealed when the world is on edge.
